  Miss Rodeo America Pageant

Miss Rodeo America Pageant Redcap

Another great year for Colorado at the Miss Rodeo America Pageant! With Amy Jo Fields, Miss Rodeo Colorado 2007 finishing in the top 5, we couldn’t be more proud. But wait, let’s back up and take a look back at the week.

The Tough Enough To Wear Pink Get Acquainted Party was a great beginning to the week. The event raised several thousand dollars for the Tough Enough Fund. The dollar dances even got Tracy Damrell, Colorado committee member and president of MRA, Inc., involved, as the women lined up to have a twirl around the dance floor. The Fashion Show on Tuesday was highlighted with a celebration of Wrangler’s 60 th birthday. It was quite a tribute to the company and the incredible part they have played with Miss Rodeo America. Amy Jo even took time out from dancing to help Miss Rodeo Texas back to her feet! Wednesday brought the new speech format to the table and it was a huge success. Tickets were sold to the following two days of speech like never before. After giving a 2 minute prepared speech on their state or some aspect of it, the contestants were then shown in a mock TV interview that had been taped earlier in the week. Everyone had the same questions and a minute and a half to answer. Very enlightening segment!

On Friday the contestants were part of another change in the event, the Cowboy Christmas auction. The change meant the young women each brought a purse to be auctioned, along with what ever they would like to put in the purse. There were some spectacular purses, along with some amazing contents such as jewelry, NFL tickets, hunting trips and much more. The record was broken with over $36,000 being raised for the scholarship foundation.

Coronation on Saturday was fun as the theme of the 70's with “Austin Powers” brought the contest to a close. Again, it was with great pride that we watched Amy perform her best all week long.
